Idene and Steven’s  micro wedding at Lost Gulch in Boulder, Colorado

I photographed Idene and Steven’s intimate wedding this past summer 2022 and was beyond the moon thrilled when they told me they were flying to Denver from Austin, TX. My wife and I were living in Washington DC when they reached out, and I was stocked from the fact that they wanted to have me capturing their wedding day.

We had the most beautiful day, the mountains behind them was  amazing. A breathtaking blue and time just flew by as we spent the morning light exploring around the boulders, running in the road, and soaking in the beauty they were surrounded by. The sky was clear, which also left us having a little more time before being faced with super harsh sunlight.

After we finished up with the session, we went to one of my favorite breakfast spots, Snooze! Although it’s a chain restaurant with locations scattered throughout the country and boulder, this place has a very comfortable non-chain atmosphere. Be warned, though – both times I’ve gone here there was a long wait and I was very thankful to have reserved a spot in line beforehand to help reduce the wait just a little.

PLANNING YOUR SESSION AT LOST GULCH IN BOULDER

If you’re looking for a spot in Boulder Colorado for engagement or “just because” photos , I cannot recommend having your session at Lost Gulch enough! It’s an easy accessible spot just outside of Boulder that requires no hiking at all – pretty shocking to get a spot this beautiful without breaking a sweat at all. Something really important to note, though, is that due to the ease of accessibility, this is a super popular spot so in order to avoid the crowds, I highly recommend coming on a weekday at sunrise.

Your photographer will also have to be sure to secure a Boulder OSMP commercial use permit. These permits are not expensive and ensure that the land is well protected and cared for so that visitors for years to come can enjoy it just like you!
